Amit Paley

Amit Paley is the Executive Director of the Malnutrition Advocacy Fund.

 

Amit leads efforts to combat global hunger and promote evidence-based solutions to ending childhood malnutrition. His career spans leadership roles across social impact, nonprofit management, journalism, and global consulting.

Prior to this role, Amit was Executive Director of the Movement Against Malnutrition and held the position of Entrepreneur in Residence at the International Rescue Committee. He was previously CEO & Executive Director of The Trevor Project, the world’s largest organization focused on suicide prevention and mental health support for LGBTQ young people. During his time there, he oversaw a more than tenfold increase in service reach, spearheaded international growth, and launched cutting-edge AI-powered tools recognized among TIME magazine’s top 100 inventions.

 

Earlier in his career, Amit was an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, advising Fortune 500 corporations, governments, and nonprofits as a leader in the healthcare and public sector practices. Before entering the private and nonprofit sectors, Amit began as a journalist with The Washington Post, covering major national and international stories. His work as a foreign correspondent based in Iraq was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

 

A respected voice in social impact and advocacy for children, Amit has appeared in leading media outlets including The New York Times, USA Today, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, and CNN. He has served in academic and advisory roles, including as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York, and on boards and committees such as the Hebrew Free Loan Society, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Steering Committee, the Executive Committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, the Center for Public Integrity, and as Chair of the Graduate Council of The Harvard Crimson.

Amit earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Harvard College, and holds both a master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
